Meet our Medical Advisory Group members, here to support the CoppaFeel! team in reminding, educating and empowering the nation to check their boobs. We are proud to have their expertise on board to help evaluate, develop and inform our messaging and campaigns.
Infectious Diseases Dr and Occasional BBC presenter
Chris trained in medicine at Oxford and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians. He has a diploma in Tropical Medicine from the London School of Tropical Medicine and after more than a decade working in the NHS he is now doing a PhD in Molecular Virology. He is passionate about improving the nation’s knowledge of public health issues and can be found on the BBC educating adults and children alike through programs such as “Trust me I’m a doctor” or “Operation Ouch”.
Beth studied medicine at Liverpool, and has remained there working as a GP in an inner-city practice with a large student population. She has a keen interest in student health, and feels especially passionate about health promotion. Sharing basic knowledge can enable disease prevention and early detection, both key in fighting conditions like cancer. Beth is truly motivated and impassioned by CoppaFeel!’s work, and hopes to help empower young people to take control of their health by supporting their campaigns.
Behaviour Change Specialist
Claire works as a behavioural change consultant across a number of projects for both the private sector and the NHS. She first got involved with CoppaFeel! after meeting founder Kris at an event hosted by the Mayor of London. Since then, she has continued to support the team with her expertise and we are delighted to have her on board with the Medical Advisory Group.
Ex Practice Nurse and Pharmaceutical Representative
Sandra trained as an RGN in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in North Wales, later specialising in Women’s Health at Queen Charlottes and Chelsea Hospital and working on gynae/oncology ward at UCH before moving back to North Wales to become a practice nurse. Sandra is currently working for GSK as a Respiratory Therapy Representative. During 2017, Sandra joined the CoppaFeel! Trek to Oman and enjoyed learning more about the charity, which inspired her to raise awareness across North Wales particularly amongst the local practice nurse community.
Rachel is involved in the Medical Advisory Group for CoppaFeel! having been a Trustee at the charity from its very start. She is a junior doctor training to hopefully become a clinical oncologist. Rachel has a strong interest in cancer and has done since completing her dissertation on Breast Cancer for her BSc degree from the University of Southampton. She went on to study medicine at the University of Birmingham where her passion grew. She hopes with a collection of medical brains we can develop CoppaFeel!’s presence in the medical field.
Rory is a GP based in West London. She has a Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
She is passionate about CoppaFeel! ‘s mission to get everyone to check and know their boobs/pecs and to encourage people to be proactive and present to their GP early on with any concerns.
Penny is a GP based in Southampton and has supported CoppaFeel!’s work for a number of years. She strongly believes in CoppaFeel!’s message and believes any breast changes need to be seen as soon as possible, regardless of age. Penny has supported CoppaFeel!’s work through various initiatives in her own surgery to promote boob-checking to her patients.
