Knowing how to check your chest shouldn’t come down to chance. We want brief, structured conversations about breast awareness built into routine health appointments – from cervical screening to NHS Health Checks – so that awareness becomes second nature for everyone.
More than half of all breast cancer cases occur outside the national screening age of 50–70. We’re calling for a pilot seven-minute risk assessment for people aged 18–49, so those at higher risk are invited to earlier or more frequent screening – before a crisis, not after.
Most breast cancer drugs have been developed and tested predominantly on older, postmenopausal women. We need age-diverse clinical trials, broken down data, and dedicated funding to understand the unique biology, needs and experiences of younger people with breast cancer.
