You are definitely more breast aware when you’re pregnant, just because they do change so much.”

Lucy was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 18 weeks pregnant. It is normal for your breasts to change during pregnancy, however it is important to speak to your doctor if you notice something that isn’t normal for you. Both pregnancy and breastfeeding cause breast changes because your breasts are responding to pregnancy hormones. It is important that you keep checking your breasts throughout pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding, to help you get to know the natural fluctuations that occur.

If you notice something that isn’t normal for you, it’s always best to speak to your doctor, just as Lucy did when she noticed something unusual. “Had I not found my cancer as early as I did, it would have been a very different story. If you do find something, please do go to your GP.”
