NHS Southwark Film Series

16 March 2022

Student Animation Series

This series of four short films have been developed by local students from London College of Communication in association with NHS Southwark, and have been inspired by testimonials from black women who have a breast cancer experience.

Despite black women being almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in the UK, the experience of black women going through cancer is massively underrepresented and misunderstood. These films highlight the importance of breast awareness and help to encourage people to check their chests regularly.

Dr Nicola Weaver, Macmillan GP Clinical Cancer Lead for Southwark explained: “We hope these fantastic films will help to amplify and communicate this sensitive message in a universal language.”
