2024 marks 40 years of Volunteers’ Week – a national campaign to celebrate the amazing contributions volunteers make to communities across the UK.
Throughout the week (3 – 9 June) you’ll see us shouting about our volunteers across our social media, showing some love to the people at the heart of CoppaFeel!, spreading lifesaving breast cancer awareness in schools, colleges, universities and their communities year round.
We also wanted to take this moment to introduce our CoppaFeel! Ambassadors.
Who are the ‘CoppaFeel! Ambassador’ volunteers?
A small group of keen beans dedicated to getting our chest checking message out in their local area.
What do they do?
Activities are totally self-organised to work around your life and schedule.
We provide a few pointers on how to raise awareness of breast cancer and chest checking locally and the rest is up to you.
There’s been bake sales, a viral CrossFit gym takeover, and even boob suits on a pole!
Between them, our Ambassador volunteers have…
- Held a virtual Lunch & Learn for 65 colleagues about CoppaFeel! and how we can remind you to check your chest.
- Sorted the display of our checking cards at a local spa so visitors can get to know the signs of breast cancer and sign up for a free monthly text reminder.
- Plastered bathrooms and changing rooms with our shower stickers at local universities, gyms, leisure centres, dance and fitness studios – no shower is safe!
- Set up monthly chest checking reminders for their community Discord server, highlighting our trans and non-binary checking resources to help members of all genders feel more confident checking.
- Hosted screenings of CoppaFeel! founder Kris’ documentary, Dying to Live.
- Shared our Pregnancy and Breastfeeding resources with local breastfeeding support groups.
